Family Fashion Revival

Just a quick post to say thanks to my beautiful mummy! Popped round for a cuppa after work and she pulled out two pairs of original Levi's asking to put them in E bay for her! I snatched them out of her arms before she could even contemplate E bay! I got mum to customise them while they were on my body, cutting the wide leg 80's jeans off and turning them into shorts. I loved them so much I wore them home! This has inspired me to hang out around my mums wardrobe and loft a bit more often if it means stealing so original items!

Mambo Magic

I recently got married and had the most amazing day ever, but as we all know, a wedding isn't complete without an awesome hen do! My now husband jetted of to Las Veags, so I wasn't going to be outdone and made sure my hen do was equally as good! The girls and I jetted of the the White Isle, know to most as Ibiza. We steered clear of the 'chavvy' west end of San Antonio and headed straight to the classic Cafe Mambo on the sunset strip. Established in 1994, Mambo is the official pre party for every event in Ibiza, famously hosting Pete Tong every Friday with a funky warm up. Mambo was our 'home' every evening on my hen do and we were looked after like royalty, by royalty I mean, free shot after free shot of algave Tequila!
Mambo is great for a chilled evening, or a full on party, but the dress code in Ibiza is 100% chilled, just like its residents. There were no heels in sight, with everyone opting for cons, sandals and Nike Blazers, this is the kind of style after my own heart! High waisted Levi's, studded tees with hair extensions for a bit of Essex glamour! Ibiza has a bit of something for everyone, don't be put off by the west end tack, Ibiza, in my opinion, is one of the coolest places in the world!

H&M's Autumn Collection? But what about Summer?

It saddens me to write this post with the word 'autumn'in it, but with all the summer clothes in the sale, we need to look forward to the next season on the horizon.
H&M (www.hm.com) is one of my favourite high street stores, affordable, fashionable, and classy. I received my flyer through the door this morning and my eyes lit up with the warm colours that will be seen in a few months time.
Coral and deep purple compliment dusky pink and cream, studded bags and heavy knit, twinned with chunky gold jewellery.
Here are a few photos from the collection, prices start from £7.99

Sale Away this Summer!

Summer Sales are not everybodies cup of tea, untidy rails, clothes on the floor and in a nutshell, not pleasing on the eye. If you can overcome these issues, you will be rewarded with some absolute gems that you were probably drooling over 3 weeks ago, but with a full price tag!
I hit the sales last week with my bestie and fellow blogger Hayles (www.thelifeandfashionofhc.blogspot.com) at Kents finest shopping establishment, Bluewater. Hayley pleasantly surprised herself with a sequinned number she'd seen on a DJ in Ibiza, and I pretty much bought everything!
River Island (www.riverisland.com) had some great pieces, I purchased a gorgeous tasseled top/beach cover up for £20, I overlooked the fact that it was a size 18 as it looked really cool loose and slouchy. A basic pale mint tee with a loose pocket for £7 was another excellent find.
Zara (www.zara.com) was the next shop that winked at me as I was innocently walking by. This was slightly more appealing as the clothes were colour co ordinated and displayed in styles. I picked up a great grey tasseled clutch and oversized grey tee.

If Bluewater was open later, I would have returned home with far more shopping bags, but TGI Fridays and cocktails were calling!

Getting Sky High with Ruthie Davis

American girl, Ruthie Davis' (www.ruthiedavis.com) sky high heels are an absolute must haves this season!
Since starting her career at Rebook, she then moved to Ugg Australia and re created the brand. Final port of call for Davis was Tommy Hilfiger where she launched Tommy Girl. With all this experience behind her, in 2006 she launched her own luxury shoe brand, and what a brand it is!
Soft black leather shoe boots with rose gold studs to multi coloured double layered platforms are all part of Davis' pre fall 2012 collection. Her talents do not end there though, the collection also includes studded leather sneakers and leather bags with chain straps and yet more studding.
My favourites are the pale grey leather heels with metallic gold and studded ankle strap, stunning classics! So if you're reading this blog post Ruthie, feel free to donate a pair of your awesome shoes to me!!! NCCB

Arts and Crafts Corner - Studding

Individuality is always a good trait to have, it means you're not scared to express how you feel or what you do, and what better way to express this, is through clothes.
Anybody can go out and buy a pair of jeans and a white tee, and sometimes it can be how you wear them so that your personality shines. Adding your own individual touch can change a basic white tee to something completely unique.
This is what I've been doing this evening, customising a basic denim shirt from Primark with some square silver studs! I feel we need to take 5 minutes to give credit to Lady Ga Ga and Rihanna, as without their latest fashion trends and their obsession with studded outfits, this look would not be so accessible.
Wearing my customised denim shirt won't take me any closer to being as cool as GaGa or RiRi, but it'll do for the high street!

I have included step by step photos of how I (and my cat Cooper) transformed the collar of my shirt.

Denim shirt - Primark £12
Silver Studs - E bay £3

Heeled Trainers-Tacky or Cool?

My big fat gypsy wedding meets Cheryl Cole? Concealed Heeled Trainers were, in my opinion, either really cool, or hideously tacky. But I purchased a pair just to see what all the hype was about, and I've been pleasantly surprised! They are the comfiest shoes ever! It's a strange feeling to be walking in heels when you're actually in trainers!
I've customised my beige suede pair with gold studs.

Wedding Day Inspiration

To me the decoration was a massive part of our day, we chose a venue that was both beautiful on the outside and the inside, so the decorations enhanced this beauty.
We opted for Olive trees in large planters with twinkly fairy lights to add texture to the Music Room and hand tied pale paper Pom poms to the seat backs.
These Paper Pom Poms were used throughout the venue and looked amazing, adding vintage charm to the white washed oak beams.
The flowers we chose were antique full bloomed hydrangeas and 'Memory Lane' roses with eucalyptus. We supplied our own gold crackle glazed containers to house the table arrangements which we will reuse as vases and displays around our cottage.
We also hired vintage teacups and saucers as name places and for afternoon tea and coffee, this also included an amazing vintage table display on our gift table. Hired from Magpie Crockery www.magpiecrockery.co.uk
The most important piece of advise I'd give about your wedding day is, savour each second, as it flys by. NCCB

The best day ever!

Since organising my recent wedding 3 weeks ago, I am somewhat at a loose end! For the past year and and a half my life has been consumed by everything wedding. From dresses to suits to table plans and flowers, it definitely was the most fun I've had in a long time. Being married is the most amazing feeling ever and if I could get married every month just so I could organise the party, I would!
I wanted to share with you a few photographs of our special day and maybe fill you in with some helpful wedding tips and ideas so that your day runs as smoothly as ours did! NCCB
